Lighthouses - Country Value

Houses for 1 Euro - free Italian Lighthouse concession

In Italy it is possible to take out a lighthouse in concession to redevelop the property and relaunch local tourism.

The Italian Ministry of Defense and the State Property Agency have activated the "Valore Paese" project, in which lighthouses and adjacent properties can be rented free of charge.
Some of the lighthouses are still in operation, but all are located in suggestive places in Italy.

How to manage a lighthouse?

On the Italian Marini Militare website there is a section dedicated to lighthouses and the related tender notices for their management.

Houses for 1 Euro in Lighthouses

Why are lighthouses leased?New technologies have made lighthouses no longer indispensable and the increased costs for their maintenance have pushed the Ministry of Defense and the State Property Agency to find solutions to avoid losing this heritage.
Lighthouses in Italy have a long history behind them and are all integrated perfectly into the environment. They are not eco-monsters that disfigure the landscape, on the contrary they give it greater charm.
Giving out some lighthouses as a concession is, therefore, a way to reduce management costs, but also to relaunch these structures from a tourism point of view.
In fact, in the assignment notice, it is the redevelopment and tourism relaunch project that is at the center.

What lighthouses are available?

In 2021 the call foresaw the assignment of Eight Lighthouses:
Capel Rosso Lighthouse, Giannutri Island (GR)Capo Rizzuto Lighthouse, Capo Rizzuto Island (KR)Capo Rossello Lighthouse, Realmonte (AG)Caderini Lighthouse, Syracuse (SR)Lighthouse on the island of S. Eufemia, Vieste (FG)Punta Alice Lighthouse, Cirò Marina (KR)Punta Stilo Lighthouse, Monasterace (RC)Capo Rasocolmo Lighthouse, Messina (ME)
